Uruguay is located at the same latitude as the main forestry enterprises in the southern hemisphere. It is situated in a climatic zone similar to that of southern Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, and central areas of Argentina and Chile, with climate and soil conditions that ensure very good levels of international competitiveness.
Our country has a stable legal framework conducive to investment in the forestry sector and a national code of good forestry practices for achieving sustainable production, meeting the requirements of international demand.
CHR Group contributes to the forestry sector with services related to the collection and loading for the export of wood rolls in the ports of Montevideo and Nueva Palmira. Additionally, we regularly carry out international container transportation for products with a higher level of industrialization. In the cellulose industry, we provide services to UPM by conducting river transport from its plant in Fray Bentos, storage in our warehouses, and finally re-embarkation on oceanic vessels for export. The annual movement of this operation is 1.2 million tons per year.
For the second UPM plant in Uruguay, CHR Group, together with COINTER from Spain, and Deutsche Bahn from Germany, form a consortium that will be responsible for the operation of railway loading between Paso de los Toros in the center of the country, and the Port of Montevideo.
